Item No. 13 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: ELECTION OF MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO -TEM <br />DATE: May 8, 2017 <br />BACKGROUND: Following the acknowledgement of the result of prior Council action <br />declaring Candidates for Council Districts 4, 5, & 7 elected to office, the City Council will be <br />seated for the upcoming year. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Section 16 of the City Charter requires that the newly comprised City <br />Council shall elect from among its members a mayor and mayor pro -tem. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to appoint a mayor and a mayor pro -tem to serve for one year. <br />
