Paris Visitors & Convention Council <br />Board of Directors Meeting <br />February 9, 2016 <br />4:00 pm <br />Members Present: Erik Roddy, Mike Patterson, Jeff Martin, Gail Dority, Mary Lou Coe, Josh Bray, <br />Chadlee Johnston, Renee Harvey, Steve Keywood, Roy Gwinn, Carolyn Patterson, Raju Patel. <br />Staff Present: Ken Higdon, Gina Crawford, and Becky Semple. <br />Erik Roddy called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm. <br />A motion to approve the January minutes was made by Roy Gwinn, seconded by Mary Lou Coe, motion <br />passed. <br />January financials were presented by Josh Bray. A motion to approve was made by Chadlee Johnston, <br />seconded by Gail Dority. <br />A funding request for the Paris Wine Fest was presented. They are asking for $2500. A motion to <br />approve $800 sponsorship was made by Chadlee Johnston, seconded by Renee Harvey. Motion passed. <br />A funding request for the Optimist Baseball Tournaments was presented. Each Tournament is asking for <br />$2500. A motion to approve $2158 for each tournament was made by Jeff Martin, seconded by Gail <br />Dority. Roy Gwinn abstained. Motion passed. <br />Becky Semple stated that there would be more expenses for ASA Archery. A motion to approve <br />spending up to $30000 on archery was made by Mike Patterson, seconded by Mary Lou Coe, motion <br />passed. <br />Becky Semple also stated that the Tour de Paris would cost approximately $25,000. A motion to spend <br />up to $25,000 was made by Roy Gwinn, seconded by Mary Lou Coe, motion passed. Sponsorships and <br />registration should help defer the cost. <br />Becky Semple also asked for the board to approve spending $15,000 on the Southern Drag boat races. A <br />motion to approve $15,000 was made by Mike Patterson, seconded by Raju Patel, motion passed. <br />Erik Roddy and Becky Semple gave examples of funding request letters that would allow an event to <br />only be funded for three years. Ken Higdon was going to check into the rules on this. <br />Becky Semple gave the directors report. She also asked for volunteers for the upcoming events. <br />Erik Roddy stated that the City of Paris may help with entry ways to Paris. This will be put on hold for <br />now. <br />Ken Higdon stated that we received an invoice for 1/3 of the downtown Billboard sign. The billboard has <br />a new design. The cost for VCC is $1250. <br />
