RESOLUTION NO. 2017 -022
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
<br />APPROVING THE PRIVATE RE -SALE OF MULTIPLE TRACTS OF BID -OFF
<br />TAX FORECLOSED PROPERTIES TO ONE OR MORE BUYERS, AND
<br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE DEEDS
<br />WHEREAS, twenty -three tracts of real property (the "Trustee Properties ") were bid
<br />off to the City of Paris as Trustee for itself, Lamar County, Paris ISD and Paris Junior College
<br />at public tax sales conducted on July 3, 2007, January 6, 2015, February 2, 2016 and March
<br />7, 2017; and
<br />WHEREAS, Texas Property Tax Code Section 34.05(i) provides that the Trustee
<br />Properties may be sold by private sale, at any price, in lieu of a public sale under Texas
<br />Property Tax Code Section 34.05(c) & (d), with the approval of all taxing units entitled to
<br />receive proceeds from the sale, being the City of Paris, Lamar County, Paris ISD and Paris
<br />Junior College; and
<br />WHEREAS, private offers to purchase several of the Trustee Properties have been
<br />received by the City of Paris (the "Private Sale "), and there are no competing offers to
<br />purchase the Trustee Properties as of this date; and
<br />WHEREAS, this conveyance is made for public purposes, including but not limited
<br />to (1) lessening the burden of government in caring for tax foreclosed properties bid -off to
<br />the City of Paris pursuant to tax warrant or order of sale in a delinquent tax suit, and (2) to
<br />return those properties to tax paying status;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the City Council of Paris,
<br />Texas, that:
<br />Section 1. The following offers to purchase the following tracts of real property, being the
<br />highest bids received, are hereby accepted and the Private Sales are hereby approved:
