<br />PROGRAM NARRATIVE <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br /> <br />General Information; <br /> <br />Applicant: <br /> <br />City of Paris, Texas <br /> <br />Project name: <br /> <br />Heritage Park <br /> <br />Prepareres name: <br /> <br />Terry Townsend, CLP, CPSI <br />Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Description of Proposed Project <br /> <br />The City of Paris proposes the construction of park related facilities on property donated to the city <br />by Dr. William deG. Hayden MoO.. The property is located inside the City of Paris, Lamar County <br />and the State of Texas. The property consist of approximately 3.394 acres ofIand. Additions shall <br />include a one half mile walking track, a picnic pavilion, parking, a crape myrtle garden, a fenced <br />playground for 3-5 year old's, a children's zero depth water playground and sidewalks. Also, <br />included in the walking track will be benches, tables and historical markers located every 100 foot <br />which delineate historical facts in Lamar County History. <br /> <br />The City of Paris will propose to act as contractor for this project, purchasing equipment and <br />installing it with City forces wherever possible. <br /> <br />Objectives and Need for Assistanee <br /> <br />Our Park MasterPlan was developed in 1995, and revised in 1998. A series of public hearings were <br />held to receive citizen input concerning parks and recreational needs in the City of Paris. <br />Acquisition of additional parks and recreational land through dedication or purchase is listed as a <br />priority for future development. <br /> <br />This donated property has been appraised at $ 62,200. Our intention is to use the value as matching <br />funds to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the development of the park. <br /> <br />The property is located adjacent to the Santa Fe Frisco Train Depot Transportation Museum that is <br />being refurbished today by a 1.2 million dollar grant from the TX-DOT enhancement program. <br />Additionally, the other side of the property is owned by the Lamar County Historical Society <br />Museum Project which is also under renovation with private funds, We hope the park will tie the <br />two facilities together and complete the beautification project. <br />
