Shed in back yard, pile of lumber in back yard. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: Declare nuisance, demo within 30 days, <br />or city has right to do so. <br />Commission questions. <br />Q — Is there power to the house? <br />A — No. <br />Q — How long has current owner been in possession? <br />A — July 2016. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Joseph Scott to accept <br />Robert's recommendation. Motion carried unanimously. 6 -0 <br />D. 1321 Belmont; Belmont Addition Block 4, Lot 3 <br />Owner: Zollie Mae Rodgers, 1263 FM 2121, Paris TX 75462 <br />Robert Talley stated has had contact with owner's daughter. Agrees house needs <br />to be demoed. Told her she would have minimum of 30 days after this meeting. <br />They're looking for contractor and pricing it. Were informed could have city do <br />it. Large hole in roof, beginning to collapse. Unoccupied for many years. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: Declare nuisance and demo within 30 <br />days, or city has right to do so. <br />Motion was made by Joseph Scott, seconded by Sally McEwin to accept <br />Robert's recommendation. Motion carried unanimously. 6 -0 <br />4. Code Enforcement update. <br />Repair update asked for in last meeting. Robert briefly reviewed 19 properties. <br />Q — What is city's recourse if orders issued by BSC are not executed? <br />A — Only recourse is to assess civil penalties. Could take to court and try to fine, <br />but elderly occupant may not be able to afford to fix. Just because not repaired, <br />may not meet definition for demo. <br />Regarding addressing these properties, would recommend a written report in <br />monthly packet. <br />Q — Do we have an ordinance where we can condemn properties that do not get <br />repaired when orders have been issued? <br />A — Can condemn property with no one living there, but when there's a legal <br />
