RESOLUTION NO. 2017 -026 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -022 REGARDING A GRANT IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $17,057.05 FROM THE DIVISION OF EMERGENCY <br />MANAGEMENT, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, FOR A HAZARDOUS <br />MATERIALS /DIVE RESCUE PROJECT (NOS. 3042091 AND 2946902), TO <br />CHANGE THE DESIGNEE OF GRANTEE'S AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on June 27, 2016 the City Council of the City of Paris approved <br />Resolution 2016 -022 accepting a grant in the amount of $17,057.05 from the Division of <br />Emergency Management, Office of the Governor, for a hazardous materials /dive rescue <br />project and designating A.J. Hashmi, Mayor, as the grantee's authorized official with the <br />power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the City and its <br />agencies; and <br />WHEREAS, since the Mayor is an official elected annually, designation of the person <br />holding the office of Mayor as the grantee's authorized official, rather than any named <br />individual, is prudent; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. That the person occupying the office of Mayor at the time any of the <br />powers enumerated herein are required to be exercised shall be designated as grantee's <br />authorized official with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant <br />on behalf of the applicant agency. <br />Section 3. That the City Council of the City of Paris accepts the grant in the amount <br />of $17,057.05 from the Division of Emergency Management, Office of the Governor for the <br />Hazardous Materials /Dive Rescue Project (Nos. 3042091 and 2946902). <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of June, 2017. <br />Cleonne Drake, Mayor Pro -Tem <br />
