Item No. 14 memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Carla Easton, City Engineer SUBJECT: 2013 BOND FUND - SOUTHEAST LIFT STATION CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD DATE: July 3, 2017 BACKGROUND: The 2013 Bond Fund for Water and Sewer Improvements includes funding for the Southeast Lift Station & Force Main Replacement Project, which consists of a complete 5.6 MGD lift station, approximately 4,000 feet of 18 -inch force main, 1,800 feet of access road construction, and 900 feet of gravity main replacement. AECOM and Hayter Engineering prepared the construction drawings and specifications. STATUS OF ISSUE: On June 27, 2017, seven bids were received for the project and RBIS submitted the apparent low bid in the amount of $ $2,393,937.85. The bids were reviewed and references checked in accordance with the contract documents, and the engineer of record has submitted a recommendation of contract award to RBIS. The contract documents require this project to be completed within 270 calendar days after issuance of the notice to proceed. Construction is anticipated to begin in late August. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with RBIS Construction Company, for construction of the Southeast Lift Station & Force Main Replacement Project and related change orders for an amount not to exceed $2,500,000.
