"3. The tanks shall be located in a room protected by an automatic <br />sprinkler system complying with Section 903.3.1.1; and <br />"4. Tanks shall be connected to fuel- burning equipment, including <br />generators, utilizing an approved closed piping system. <br />"The quantity of combustible liquid stored in tanks complying with <br />this section shall not be counted towards the maximum allowable <br />quantity set forth in Table 5003.1.1(1), and such tanks shall not be <br />required to be located in a control area. Such tanks shall not be <br />located more than two stories below grade." <br />Section 5704.2.11.4, Leak prevention, shall be amended to read as follows: <br />"5704.2.11.4 Leak prevention. Leak prevention for underground <br />tanks shall comply with Sections 5704.2.11.4.1 through 5704.2.11.4.3. An <br />approved method of secondary containment shall be provided for <br />underground tank and piping systems." <br />Section 5704.2.11.4.2, Leak detection, shall be amended to read as follows: <br />"5704.2.11.4.2 Leak detection. Underground storage tank systems <br />shall be provided with an approved method of leak detection from any <br />component of the system that is designed and installed in accordance with <br />NFPA 30 and as specified in Section 5704.2.11.4.3." <br />Section 5704.2.11.4, Leak prevention, shall be amending by adding Section <br />5704.2.11.4.3, Observation wells, to read as follows: <br />"5704.2.11.4.3 Observation wells. Approved sampling tubes of a <br />minimum 4 inches in diameter shall be installed in the backfill material of <br />each underground flammable or combustible liquid storage tank. The tubes <br />shall extend from a point 12 inches below the average grade of the <br />excavation to ground level and shall be provided with suitable surface access <br />caps. Each tank site shall provide a sampling tube at the corners of the <br />excavation with a minimum of 4 tubes. Sampling tubes shall be placed in the <br />product line excavation within 10 feet of the tank excavation and one every <br />50 feet routed along product lines towards the dispensers, a minimum of two <br />are required." <br />Section 6103.2.1, Portable containers, shall be amended by adding Section <br />6103.2.1.8, Jewelry repair, dental labs and similar occupancies, to read as follows: <br />"6103.2.1.8 Jewelry repair, dental labs and similar occupancies. <br />Where natural gas service is not available, portable LP -Gas containers are <br />42 <br />
