<br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-043
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 12th day of
<br />April, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-031, declare the candidate for District 5, for the May I, 1999,
<br />election, elected to office for a term beginning May 6, 1999, after having received certification
<br />from the City Clerk that such candidate was unopposed for election to office with no write-in
<br />candidates being declared; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, in said Ordinance No.
<br />99-031, determine that no election be held in District 5 as permitted by V.T.C.A., Election Code,
<br />Section 2.053; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of Districts 4 and 7 of the City
<br />of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 1st day of May, 1999, for the purpose of voting for and electing the
<br />Council member from each of said Districts to serve as members of the City Council for the
<br />ensuing two (2) years; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of the United States for the
<br />Eastern District of Texas, Paris Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as provided in the
<br />Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas wherein they do not conflict with
<br />said Order, such election was conducted and held at two (2) specified and designated polling
<br />places, that is one (I) polling place each in Districts 4 and 7, and early voting of the City of Paris,
<br />Paris, Texas, with no election being held in District 5, as permitted in V.T.C.A., Election Code,
<br />Section 2.053; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated
<br />election officials of and for the two (2) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and
<br />City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due and deliberate
<br />review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit:
