<br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-061-A <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 27th day of June, <br />1983, by motion, adopt the existing personnel policies for the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11 th day of <br />December, 1989, in Resolution No. 89-145, amend said policies by the inclusion of a Drug-Free <br />Workplace and Employee Assistance Program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such policies are outdated and do not address all necessary issues, therefore, <br />it is deemed appropriate that such policies be repealed and declared null and void and of no further <br />effect; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 40 of the Charter of the City of Paris designates the City Manager <br />as the chief executive officer and head of the administrative branch of the city government, and, <br />as such, he is vested with appointing authority for classified and unclassified positions of <br />employment with the city and is finally responsible for the matters and policies relating to the <br />efficiency, morale, and welfare of employees; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City Manager be directed to develop and <br />implement new policies governing personnel; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL O"F THE CITY OF PARIS, that the <br />City Manager, Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to develop, in <br />accordance with the law, and implement new personnel policies; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, immediately upon the development and <br />implementation of such new policies, the personnel policies adopted on the 27th day of June, <br />1983, and amended on the 11th day of December, 1989, by Resolution No. 89-145, be repealed <br />and declared null and void and of no further effect. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of June, 1999. <br /> <br />l <br /> <br /> <br />If <br />
