<br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-67
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, in Resolution No. 95-
<br />107, authorize an application to be made to the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Community
<br />Oriented Policing Services, for funding for COPS Universal Hiring Program grants; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing
<br />Services, has issued its Grant Award, entitled "COPS Universal Hiring Supplement Award," No.
<br />95CFWX2504, beginning March 1, 1995, ending May 31, 2000, in the total amount of
<br />$450,000.00, with the previous award amount being $225,000.00 and the supplement award
<br />amount being $225,000.00; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within forty-five (45) days of the date of
<br />said award, which occurred on April 19, 1999; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City
<br />of Paris accept said Grant A ward and continue to improve police protection in the City of Paris;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
<br />COPS Universal Hiring Program grant in the total amount of $450,000.00, with the previous
<br />award amount being $225,000.00 and the supplement award amount being $225,000.00, be, and
<br />the same is hereby, accepted; and,
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager, Michael E. Malone, be, and he
<br />is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the COPS Universal
<br />Hiring supplemental award, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A,
<br />attached hereto.
