Item No. 9 <br />memorandum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Doug Harris, Director of Utilities <br />SUBJECT: AWARD WATER & WASTEWATER TREATMENT CHEMICAL BIDS <br />DATE: 07/26/2017 <br />BACKGROUND: Bids for water and wastewater treatment chemicals are scheduled annually. <br />Bids were received and publicly opened at 3:00 p.m. on 07/25/2017. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Bids were advertised in The Paris News on 06/25/2017 and 07/02/2017, <br />published on the City of Paris Department of Utilities and the Texas Comptroller Electronic State <br />Business Daily websites; bid packets were direct mailed to fifty -six (56) vendors; thirty -five (35) <br />bids from twenty -four (24) vendors were submitted. Low bids received: Chlorine, $680.00 /ton, <br />Brenntag Southwest, Inc.; Alum, $188.04 /ton, Affinity Chemical, LLC.; Ammonia, <br />$1,300.00 /ton, Airgas Specialty Products; Bulk Lime, $162.80 /ton, Texas Lime Company; <br />Bagged Lime, $269.00 /ton, Texas Lime Company; Powdered Activated Carbon, $0.505/lb., <br />Cabot Norit Americas; Sulfur Dioxide, $745.00 /ton, Brenntag Southwest, Inc.; Sodium <br />Hydroxide, $582.70 /ton, DPC Industries, Inc.; Polymer, $0.84/lb., Polydyne, Inc.; Fluoride, <br />$1.64 /gal, Pencco, Inc. The bid tabulation is attached. All original bid documents are available <br />for review in the office of the City Clerk. <br />BUDGET: Department 82 - Water Production 10- 0211- 82 -00: $513,310.00; Department 86 — <br />Wastewater Treatment 10- 0211- 86 -00: $113,250.00; Overall total: $626,560.00. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the low bids received for water and wastewater treatment <br />chemicals to be used in FY 2017/2018. <br />
