RESOLUTION 7000-17<; A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO UNDERTAKE ALL ACTIONS REASONABLY NECESSARY TO PROCURE PROPERTY FOR THE SITE OF A NEW ANIMAL SHELTER; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DA TE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, has approved and authorized a project of construction entitled "New Animal Shelter Project"; and, WHEREAS, the City Council did heretofore, on the 27th day of June, 2000, by adoption of Resolution No, 2000-090, authorize the execution of a contract for architectural services related to said animal shelter project; and, WHEREAS, as a consequence of the review of the architect, and consideration of the current site limitations for the location of the existing animal shelter, and other engineering and soil considerations, it is deemed necessary and appropriate to acquire property for a new site location for construction of the new animal shelter; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Manager and the City Attorney, in conjunction with the City's consulting architect, to identify site parameters necessary for siting the new animal shelter, to identify existing sites which may meet the criteria for said site, and to make any and all reasonable offers, consistent with budgetary limitations, for acquisition of a suitable animal shelter site; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section I. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Manager, in conjunction with the City Attorney and the City's consulting architect, shall be and are hereby authorized to undertake a search for appropriate sites for the new animal shelter, considering site limitations, access for traffic, neighborhood compatibility and engineering requirements; and upon locating said sites, to undertake any and all necessary negotiations and preliminary offers to acquire an appropriate property for siting the new animal shelter, subject to appropriate budgetary limitations and City Council approval. Section 3. That this resolutions shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
