Item No. 10 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS <br />DATE: August 22, 2017 <br />BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted <br />by City Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in <br />June. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Appointments were made on June 26 and Devin Blalock was appointed to <br />the Main Street Advisory Board. Due to a new job, Ms. Blalock recently informed the Main <br />Street Director she was unable to serve on the board. The Main Street Advisory Board has <br />recommended that John Brazile be appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr. Brazile currently <br />volunteers for Main Street and submitted an application in June. <br />City staff received an e -mail from Building & Standards Commission Chair Johnny Norris, <br />advising of Board Member Charles Richards' recent resignation for medical reasons. Mr. Norris <br />has recommended that Joseph Scott be appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr. Scott has served on the <br />commission in the past and submitted an application in June. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Appoint John Brazile to the Main Street Advisory Board and Joseph <br />Scott to the Building and Standards Commission. <br />
