<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-152 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DRIVE <br />EXTENSION PROJECT FROM 6TH STREET N.E. WEST TO N. MAIN <br />STREET; AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR SAID <br />CONSTRUCTION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Paris did heretofore, on the 10th day of October, <br />1988, authorize a project of construction to be known as Martin Luther King Extension from 6th <br />Street N.E. west to N. Main Street; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on the 4th day of June, 1992, in Resolution No. 92-040, the City Council <br />authorized the City Attorney to proceed with the procurement of right-of-way for such construction <br />project, and said right-of-way has been procured; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, plans and specifications have been prepared for the construction of said project <br />by Earl Smith, City Engineer, with the title being given thereto of the "Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive <br />Extension from 6th Street N.E. west to N. Main Street Project," which plans and specifications are <br />recommended for approval by the City Engineer of the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that such plans and specifications be approved and that <br />such project be authorized for advertisement for bids; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the plans and specifications for the "Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Extension <br />from 6th Street N.E. west to N. Main Street Project" be, and the same are hereby, approved. <br /> <br />Section 3. That such construction project be advertised in accordance with state law, bids <br />to be received at the office of the City Manager of the City of Paris, City Hall, 135 1st Street S.E., <br />Paris, Texas 75460, until 3:00 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at which time said bids <br />will be opened in the Paris Junior College Applied Technology Building, Room 1016, 2400 <br />Clarksville, Paris, Lamar County, Texas, and bids will be tabulated and presented to the City Council <br />on the lIth day of December, 2000, or as soon thereafter as possible, for the purpose of letting such <br />bid. <br /> <br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br />
