<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-166 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PARIS A <br />WAIVER OF ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE <br />JUVENILE ACCOUNT ABILITY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM; <br />DESIGNATING LAMAR COUNTY AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE CITY'S <br />SHARE OF SAID GRANT, WITH THE CITY OF PARIS PARTICIPATING <br />IN THE JUVENILE CRIME ENFORCEMENT COALITION CREATED BY <br />LAMAR COUNTY; APPROVING THE FORM OF THE AFORESAID <br />GRANT WAIVER OF APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION <br />OF SAID WAIVER; AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE JUVENILE <br />CRIME ENFORCEMENT COALITION CREATED BY LAMAR COUNTY; <br />AUTHORIZING PARTICIPA TIONBY THE CHIEF OF POLICE; MAKING <br />OTHER FlNDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office ofthe Governor, Criminal Justice Division, provides funding forthe <br />Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant Program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris is eligible to apply for a direct grant of funds in the amount <br />of $16,408.00, requiring a 10% cash match in the amount of $1,823.00; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has the option of waiving its eligibility to apply and to <br />designate a neighboring city or county as the recipient of the allocated amount; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City of Paris waive its eligibility to apply for <br />said grant and designate Lamar County as the recipient of the allocated amount, with the City of <br />Paris participating in the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition created by Lamar County; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the form of the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant Waiver of <br />Application, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the City Manager <br />should be authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section I. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved, <br /> <br />Section 2. That the waiver of the City of Paris's eligibility to apply for a Juvenile <br />Accountability Incenti ve Block Grant and designating Lamar County as the recipient of the allocated <br />amount be, and the same is hereby, approved. <br />
