<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-084
<br />
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
<br />OF THE ARK-TEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS; MAKING OTHER
<br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
<br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, by Resolution No. 1330,
<br />on the 8th day of September, 1969, become a member of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments;
<br />and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Bylaws of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, its
<br />Board of Directors shall be composed of members elected or appointed by its membership; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council is entitled to appoint three of its members to serve on the
<br />Board of Directors of the Ark- Tex Council of Governments, as provided in said Bylaws; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the tenn of office of and Michael J. Pfiester, as a member of the Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark- Tex Council of Governments, expired on May 31, 2000; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, there exists other vacancies in the City's representation on the Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments due to Charles H, Neeley and Mary Ann Fisher
<br />no longer being members of the City Council, and it is necessary to appoint their successors; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, Michael J. Pfiester, does hereby recommend
<br />the appointment of John Carter and Joe E, McCarthy for tenns of one (1) year, beginning June
<br />1, 2000, and ending May 31, 2001, or for as long as they are members of the City Council, or
<br />until their successors are duly appointed; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
<br />things approved.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That MichaelJ. Pfiester be, and he is hereby, reappointed, and that John Carter
<br />and Joe E. McCarthy be, and they are hereby, appointed to serve as members of the Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for tenns of one (1) year, beginning June 1,
<br />2000, and ending May 31, 2001, or for as long as they are members of the City Council, or until
<br />their successors are duly appointed,
<br />
<br />Section 3. That Michael J. Pfiester be, and he is hereby, recommended for appointment
<br />by the Board of Directors of the Ark- Tex Council of Governments to the Executive Committee
<br />of the Ark- Tex Council of Governments,
<br />
<br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
