Commissioner Dux called the meeting to order at 4:00 p. m. <br />2. Motion was made to accept the July 12, 2017 meeting by acclamation <br />3. Chief Larry Wright, Paris Fire Dept. gave a presentation as an effort to dispel myths/rumors <br />about fire safety and requirements that are circulating in and around the downtown <br />community. <br />4. Discussion and Possible Action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />a. COA # 2017-19: 205 E. Houston: Richard Ford presented the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness on behalf of Lyle Edwards for the doors to cover the fireplace. Mr. Ford <br />explained to the commission that that the doors are going to be built to match existing <br />doors. Mr. Ford explained that the doors will be painted with a faux finish that comes in a <br />kit that will make the white doors look like wood grain. Mr. Ford explained the doors will <br />look like the existing doors and fit the opening proportionally. Commissioner Dux <br />reminded the members of the commission that they should keep historic preservation as a <br />top priority and keep thing as accurate as possible, but this is a compromise that will work <br />to improve the appearance of the building based on the building owner's preferences. <br />A motion was made to approve the doors as presented by Commissioner Steely, seconded <br />by Commissioner Hider, motion carried 6-0 <br />b. COA #2017-20:1033 Bonham -Demolition Old City Sanitarium Children's Wing. Mr. <br />John Norman distribution manager, spoke on behalf of Coca-Cola South West Beverages <br />
