<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-099 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND OTHER <br />CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE APPLICATION AND ALL OTHER <br />NECESSARY DOCUMENTS INCIDENT TO SEEKING A GRANT FROM <br />THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY <br />ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES, FOR FUNDING UNDER THE COPS <br />IN SCHOOLS GRANT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR <br />SALARIES AND BENEIi1TS OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS FOR <br />NORTH LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U, S, Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing <br />Services, provides funding for the COPS in Schools Grant Program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application to pay for salaries and benefits of three (3) School Resource Officers for three (3) <br />years, at a total cost of $374,340.00, with no matching funds; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, by prior <br />Resolution No, 2000-079, adopted June 12, 2000, authorized an application for the aforesaid <br />grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has been advised by the grantor that further representations <br />on behalf of the City must be included in the resolution for the grant to be approved; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to include the aforesaid representations as already <br />reflected in the application; NOW, THEREI<'ORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved, <br /> <br />Section 2. That an application be made to the U. S, Department of Justice, Office of <br />Community Oriented Policing Services, to provide funding for the COPS in Schools Grant <br />Program, in the amount of $374,340.00, to pay for salaries and benefits of three (3) School <br />Resource Officers over a three (3) year period for North Lamar High School. <br /> <br />Section 3. That at the end of the three (3) year grant period the City of Paris on its own <br />behalf, and with the approval of North Lamar High School, agrees to continue the COPS In <br />
