Item No. 12
memorandum
TO: City Council
John Godwin, City Manager
FROM: Randy Tuttle, Assistant Chief of Police
SUBJECT: STOP SIGNS
DATE: September 06, 2017
BACKGROUND: At the beginning of this school year Paris ISD Head Start changed the parent
drop off/pickup point from the west side to the east side of the school. This caused an increase in
traffic at the intersection of 7th NE & Williams during beginning and end of school. There is
currently no traffic control device at this intersection and Paris ISD request stop signs be placed
at the intersection.
STATUS OF ISSUE: On September 05, 2017 the City of Paris Traffic Commission considered
this issue and voted to request the City Council consider placing stop signs for east and west
traffic at 7th NE & Williams.
BUDGET: Estimated cost of $200.00 from current budget.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve change of official traffic control map to install stop signs.
