RESOLUTION 2017-032 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />DESIGNATING AN OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER FOR THE CITY OF PARIS FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR 2017-2018; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 requires designation of an <br />official newspaper by municipalities; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Paris News is a paper of general circulation <br />within the City of Paris; and <br />WHEREAS, the Paris News: (1) devotes not less than 25% of its total column lineage to <br />general interest items; (2) is published at least once each week; (3) is entered as 2nd class postal <br />matter in the county where published; and (4) has been published regularly and continuously for <br />at least 12 months before the governmental entity or representative publishes notice; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Paris News is a publication that meets all of <br />the criteria legally required of an officially designated newspaper for the City of Paris. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. The City of Paris shall pay all applicable fees for its publications in the Paris <br />News as agreed upon between the City of Paris and the Paris News. <br />Section 3. Until September 30, 2018, the City of Paris shall continue to publish in the <br />Paris News each notice or other matter required to be published by law. <br />Section 4. Until September 30, 2018, the City of Paris may publish in the Paris News <br />notices and other matters required to be published by law and which do not require publication in <br />the official newspaper. <br />Section 5.
