RESOLUTION 2017-032 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS DESIGNATING AN OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER FOR THE CITY OF PARIS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017-2018; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 requires designation of an official newspaper by municipalities; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Paris News is a paper of general circulation within the City of Paris; and WHEREAS, the Paris News: (1) devotes not less than 25% of its total column lineage to general interest items; (2) is published at least once each week; (3) is entered as 2nd class postal matter in the county where published; and (4) has been published regularly and continuously for at least 12 months before the governmental entity or representative publishes notice; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Paris News is a publication that meets all of the criteria legally required of an officially designated newspaper for the City of Paris. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. The City of Paris shall pay all applicable fees for its publications in the Paris News as agreed upon between the City of Paris and the Paris News. Section 3. Until September 30, 2018, the City of Paris shall continue to publish in the Paris News each notice or other matter required to be published by law. Section 4. Until September 30, 2018, the City of Paris may publish in the Paris News notices and other matters required to be published by law and which do not require publication in the official newspaper.
