<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-133 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A LOCAL LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE <br />OF FUNDS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED <br />TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, has <br />issued its Grant Award to the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled "Local Law Enforcement Block <br />Grants Program Grant," in the total amount of $60,570.00, requiring a matching contribution of <br />$6,730.00; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as a condition of the receipt of said grant, the City participated in an <br />Advisory Board meeting conducted on September 8, 2000; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as a further condition of the receipt of said grant, the City, following due <br />notice, conducted a public hearing on September 13, 2000, to receive input from the citizens of <br />Paris regarding the expenditure of said funds received under said grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, acceptance of said grand must occur by or before September 22, 2000; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City <br />of Paris accept said Grant A ward for the purchase of equipment and overtime wages to continue <br />to improve local law enforcement in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section I. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Law Enforcement Block Grants Program Grant A ward in the total <br />amount of $60,570.00, requiring a matching contribution of $6,730.00, be, and the same is <br />hereby, accepted. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, <br />on behalf of the City of Paris, any and all documents, if any, incident to the acceptance of the <br />award of said grant. <br /> <br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br />
