RESOLUTION NO. 2000-132 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF A USED 1990 FORD DUMP TRUCK FROM THE DECLARED SURPLUS OF THE STATE GENERAL SERVICES COMMISSION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, has need for heavy equipment including dump trucks in the performance of its services to the citizens for the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the cost of such heavy equipment is sometimes prohibitive if purchased new, and the City as a consequence looks to acquire quality used equipment at a discounted price from state agencies which offer such equipment; and, WHEREAS, Section 252.022(a)(12)(C) of the Local Government Code exempts the purchase of personal property from state agencies from the requirements of Chapter 252 dealing with competitive bidding; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, by prior official action has elected to have Chapter 252 of the Local Government Code supercede City Charter limitations on purchases which conflict with Chapter 252 of the Local Government Code; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase a 1990 model Ford F800 dump truck, VIN No. DXK84A 7L V AI1204, State General Services Commission inventory No. 03964E, for a purchase price of $8,400.00.
