<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-011 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN INTERLOCAL <br />GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR DRUG ELIMINATION AND <br />PREVENTION WITH THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS; PROVIDING FOR SERVICES BY AND THROUGH THE POLICE <br />ATHLETIC LEAGUE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding for community policing and drug elimination and prevention services <br />has become available to the Housing Authority of the City of Paris through the Public and Indian <br />Housing Drug Elimination Program, and the Housing Authority has asked the City of Paris to <br />provide, by and through the Police Athletic League, round-trip transportation and other services <br />for children in public housing in an effort to remove them daily from the public housing sites and <br />any crime and drug-related activity that might occur there, and it is deemed to be in the best <br />interests of the residents of public housing that said services be provided; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Interlocal Governmental Agreement for Drug Elimination and Prevention <br />between the City of Paris and the Housing Authority, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all <br />things, be approved, and the City Manager, Michael E. Malone, should be authorized to execute the <br />same; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the form of the Interlocal Governmental Agreement for Drug Elimination <br />and Prevention between the City of Paris, acting by and through the Police Athletic League, and the <br />Housing Authority, attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the City Manager, Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby, authorized and <br />directed to execute, on behalfofthe City of Paris, the Interlocal Governmental Agreement, upon the <br />terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. <br /> <br />Section 4.
