MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />October 23, 2017 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 5.30 p.m. on Monday, <br />October 23, 2017, at the City Council Chamber, 1 O7 E. Kaufman, Paris, 'Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: Steven Clifford <br />Council Members: Aaron Jenkins; Billy Trenado; Linda Knox; <br />Cleonne Drake; and Paula Portugal <br />City Staff: Gene Anderson, Finance Director, Stephanie Harris, <br />City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Carla <br />Easton, City Engineer; Bob Hundley, Police Chief; <br />Kent Klinkerman, EMS Director; Doug Harris, <br />Utilities Director; Alan Efrussy, Planning Director; <br />and Priscilla McAnally, Library Director <br />Absent: Council Member: Billie Lancaster <br />Opening Agenda , <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Clifford called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Reverend Slaughter gave the invocation. <br />1 Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Drake led the pledge. <br />4, Citizens' Forum. <br />Brenda Cherry, 1.442 Fitzhugh - she said she opposed the flea market planned in her <br />neighborhood and knew that it had already been voted on. She said she did not think citizens <br />that live in the area were given a chance to speak. She said it was going to be located next to a <br />church which was very disrespectful, and there were traffic issues. She referenced the flea <br />market that was previously on the loop and said confederate flags were sold there, and they did <br />not want that in their neighborhood because it was offensive. Ms. Cherry said the streets weren't <br />fixed in their part of town; the trees were not cut back and questioned why nothing was done to <br />upgrade their community, She said she hope they reconsider it to hear the citizens that live in the <br />area. <br />
