RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />CANVASSING THE RETURNS FOR THE NOVEMBER 7, 2017, SPECIAL <br />ELECTION REGARDING THE ABOLITION OF THE SALES AND USE TAX <br />FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE ADOPTION OF A SALES AND <br />USE TAX FOR THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF STREETS IN THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT <br />WHEREAS, this City Council ordered a special election to be held in said City on <br />Noven-iber 7, 2017 on the proposition hereinafter stated, and <br />WHEREAS, said City, Council has investigated all matters pertaining to said special <br />election, including the ordering. giving notice, appointing election officers, holding and making <br />returns ofsaid special election; and <br />WHEREAS, the election officers who held said special election have duly made the <br />returns of the result thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to said City Council. <br />WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and deteri-nined that the ineeting at which this <br />Resolution was adopted was open to the public, and public notice of the time,, place and purpose <br />of said meeting was given, all as required by Chapter 55 1, Texas Government Code. <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />I. That the City Council officially finds and determines that said special election was <br />duly ordered, that proper notice of said special election was duly given. that proper election <br />officers were duly appointed prior to said special election, that said special election was duly <br />held, that the City has complied with the Texas Election Code, that due returns of` the result of <br />said special election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has duly canvassed <br />said returns, all in accordance with law and the Resolution calling said special election. <br />2. That the City Council officially finds and determines that the following votes were <br />cast at said special election, on the submitted PROPOSITION by the resident, qualified electors <br />of said City, who voted at the special election: <br />CITY OF PARIS PROPOSITION A <br />THE ABOLITION OF A SALES AND USE TAX FCR THE <br />PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW AND <br />FOR 420 EXPANDED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES AT THE RATE OF <br />ONE-FOURTH OF ONE PERCENT AND THE ADOPTION <br />OF A LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX IN THE CITY OF <br />AGAINST 1,150 PARIS, TEXAS AT THE RATE OF ONE-FOURTH OF ONE <br />PERCENTTO PROVIDE REVENUE FOR. MAINTENANCE <br />AND REPAIR OF MT.JNICII)AL STREETS <br />
