MINUTES
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 17, 1982
7:15 O'CLOCK P.M.
CITY HALL
PARIS, TEXAS
The Airport Advisory Board met February 17, 1982 at the City Hall, 7:15 p:m:.
in special session. Those present included Rick Rex, Chairman, Allie O'Brien
and Louise Hagood, members. Others present included Jim Collier, Airport
Manager, Councilman Joe Graham, Bill Boothe, Shirley Boothe, Jimmy Wrenn,
James England and Mike Hurst.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the need for security at the airport
and to find ways for financing that security.
Jim Collier presented some figures for fuel costs at airports within a 100
mile radius of Paris for the board's consideration. After much discussion,
and input from those present, it was decided to extend the recommendation
of January 26, 1982 in the following ways:
The Airport Advisory Board recommends to the City Council that they
undertake to establish a security system at Cox Field by having an attendent
at the gas pumps twenty -four hours a day. In order to defray the salaries
of extra personnel it is recommended that the cost of jet fuel be increased
15¢ per gallon, from $1.45 to $1.60, and that all grades of fuel be increased
by 5 per gallon at night, meaning those hours when the runway lights are on
the security system should be under the direction of the Police Department.
The new protection procedure should be reviewed by the Airport Board and the
City Council in six months to determine of the increased revenues are covering
the additional costs.
Motion was made by O'Brien and seconded by Hagood Vote was unanimous.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
Louise Hagood
Secretary
