MINUTES <br />AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 31, 1989 <br />COX FIELD TERMINAL <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />1. The scheduled meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by acting <br />chairman J.W. Ashmore. The following members were present: <br />J.W. Ashmore, Secretary <br />Vic Abeles <br />Greta Grebb <br />Cliff Lee <br />J.B. Ritchey <br />Members absent: None <br />Also in attendance: Dick Boots, Director of Community Facilities, Jim <br />Collier, Airport Manager, Dorothy Parker, Nona Stanley, from the <br />Airport Support Group. <br />2. The minutes of the December 6, 1988, meeting were approved as <br />written by unanimous vote. <br />3. The meeting was opened for nominations for chairman of the Airport <br />Advisory Board. Greta Grebb was nominated, it was seconded and <br />Mrs. Grebb was elected by acclamation. The meeting was turned <br />over to the chairperson who there opened the meeting to nominations <br />for for secretary. J.W. Ashmore was nominated, it was seconded an <br />Mr. Ashmore was elected by acclamation. <br />4. Mr. Boots explained the mechanics of opening and closing the <br />security gate. When the opener is keyed, and the gate opened, you <br />have 30 seconds to enter exit. You must have two keys if you <br />don't have a transmitter. One key to enter and a different key to <br />exit. Information explaining the details of gate operation has <br />been mailed to all using parties. <br />5. Report on available FAA funds for airport improvement. Mrs. Grebb <br />reported that the City has formed an active committee that is the <br />paperwork and applications for funds for an AWOS at Cox Field. The <br />committee is pursuing the possibility of securing funding for <br />several projects that will upgrade and improve the airport <br />facilities. Paris can compete for FAA funds by showing a genuine <br />interest which is one of the main objectives of the city committee. <br />6. Job description of Airport Manager: Dick Boots handed out a <br />memorandum on this subject. The board is to study this memo and <br />discuss it at the next meeting. <br />7. Report on Automatic weather station: Dick Boots gave a detailed <br />report on the AWOS facility with proposed location and description <br />of the equipment. Slides of the proposed site and dimensions for <br />the system with a 30 ft. high tower were displayed and explained. <br />A slide of the operator terminal layout shows it consists of a <br />
