The scheduled meeting was called to order at 6:10 P.M. by
chairperson Ms. Greta Grebbs. The following members were present:
Victor Abeles, Acting Secretary
Greta Grebb
J.B. Ritchey
Members absent: J.W. Ashmore and Cliff Lee.
Also in attendance: Dick Boots, Director of Community Facilities, Jim
Collier, Airport Manager, and Eric Clifford, Mayor of the City of Paris.
2. The minutes of the January 31, 1989, meeting were read and
approved by unanimous vote.
3. a. The Board discussed the upcoming City Budget. The Board
heard a report from Ms. Grebb about a meeting held with local
industrial concerns about the AWOS. Ms. Grebb stated that there
was support from local industry, however those concerned wanted
to know if the City would back the installation of the AWOS
unit. Mr. Ritchey moved that the Board advise the City to back
the AWOS with a percentage of cost money and in the future to
provide the AWOS annual maintenance. The motion was
seconded by Victor Abeles. The board asked Mr. Dick Boots to
follow up our request with proper wording to be delivered to the
City.
b. The board discussed the soil erosion around the approach
street bridge. After much discussion the board was presented
with a motion by Ms. Grebb, seconded by Victor Abels to advise
the city to plan the rework and repairs of the bridge and
headwall and put the item back into this years budget. The
board pointed out that this area would only get worse and be
more expensive to wait much longer. Mr. Clifford and Mr. Boots
expressed willingness to look into the problem.
c. Ms. Grebb reported on the meeting held with TAC and the FAA
representatives. Mr. Ray Hampton and Larry Lacey Spriggs were in
attendance from the FAA. Ms. Grebb stated that the Five year
plan should be reworked and presented to the TAC and FAA as
soon as possible. The FAA stated that this 5 year plan was
necessary for various agencies to make improvements at small
airports. The FAA noted that we should move on the 5 year plan
because the 90 -10 moneys are still available but after the 1990's
this method of federal help would stop. The FAA stated that the
engineering for a 5 year plan would possibly be funded this year.
THE TAC noted that they would handle the renovation of the Cox
Field terminal building, if money became available.
