MINUTES AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1985 6:00 PM COX FIELD TERMINAL The advisory board did not meet in July. The minutes for the June 25th meeting were approved as written. The meeting was called to order by chairman Bill Boothe. Members present were: J.W. Ashmore, Greta Grebb, Eric Clifford, Jim Collier .(airport manager), and Roger Sadler of Saber Aviation. Members absent: Joe Burress. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Airport Promotion Plan No report due to the absence of Mr. Burress. Subject added to agenda of Sept. meeting. 2. New Hangar Availibility: Mr Sadler reported that he hoped to have new hangars available by December. 3. Airport Access: Access to the airport was moved to the agenda for the Sept. meeting. 4. New ADF for Cox Field: Eric Clifford reported that there will be no more ILS systems installed in the U.S. according to the FAA. The FAA is not approving any more approach systems at the present time. To get an ADF installed at Cox Field would cost $16,000. The City of Paris would have to provide only $3000 of the funding due to the fact that the state will provide $12,000 and Mr. Sadler will donate $1,000 toward the installation cost. The advisory board recommends that the city council favorably consider this installation and seek a source of funds from which to provide the necessary $3,000. Mr Clifford will present the details of the project to the city council at their meeting on Sept. 8. NEW BUSINESS: 1. The 99's requested 60 gallons of white paint to put a compass rose and field elevation sign at Cox Field. The airport manager, Mr. Collier, will make the request by the city council. 2. Mr. Collier was requested to check into a lack of routine n.aintenance of the blacktop in front of the main hangar on the north side. This is a routing function of the airport manager and not for advisory council action. 3. Request to build a hangar on city property: Eric Clifford expressed his intent to petition the city council for permission to build a hangar at the airport. There appears to be a precedent for such a request and no action is required by the advisory board.
