MINUTES OF THE AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD <br />Tuesday, July 26, 1983 <br />7:15 P.M. <br />Cox Field Terminal Building <br />The Airport Advisory Board met in regular session Tuesday, July 26, 1983 at <br />7:15 P.M. with the following members present: <br />Richard Rex - Chairman <br />Dr. Edward Keller <br />Bill Booth <br />Also present was Jim Collier, Airport Manager. <br />1. Approval of Minutes - The minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as <br />read. <br />2. Items for the Next Agenda - Discussion of the terminal building being open on <br />weekends. <br />3. Financial Report - It was noted that expenditures approximated what was budgeted <br />(99.2 %). <br />It was also noted that there was a marked increase in the expenditure for <br />unemployment insurance. <br />4. Review of Recommendations to City Council - No opinion has been received thus far <br />from the City Attorney concerning the question of discounting services for fixed <br />base operators or other businesses at the airport. <br />5. Old Business <br />R_ amja i -& , uel Installation Status - The fuel tank has been laid in the ground but leaks <br />in the line are being investigated. <br />Concerning Concessions from Fixed Base Operators - An opinion from the City <br />Attorney is awaited as aforementioned. The Airport Manager does not think the <br />city will allow these concessions since it subsidizes the airport to the extent of <br />approximately $240,000 a year. <br />Budget Status - The Board was surprised to hear that the Airport Manager had <br />already prepared his budget for submission to the City Council before any budget <br />workshop was conducted by the Board, the reason given being that the deadline <br />for submission of the proposed budget was July 25, 1983. The Board then proceeded <br />to conduct in effect an emergency budget workshop with recommendations and <br />modifications being made. <br />In summary, the priorities agreed to by the Board and the Airport Manager are <br />as follows in decreasing order: <br />1. Operations building and firehouse, including furniture and fixtures <br />2. Connection to the Lamar County water system <br />3. Painting of runways and taxiways (required by the FAA) <br />
