MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2006 <br />4:00 P.M. <br />1. Chad Brown called the Building and Standards Commission Meeting to order at 4:00 <br />P.M. <br />Roll was called. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Chad Brown <br />Brad Archer <br />Harrell Tippitt <br />Lucius Joe, Jr. <br />David Nabors <br />Vicki Ballard <br />Scott Scholz <br />Mary Crumpler <br />Zach Saffle, Alternate <br />Chris Brown, Alternate <br />Stephen Brown, Alternate <br />B. The following members were absent: None <br />2. Approval of Minutes of previous meeting: <br />A motion was made by Mary Crumpler to approve the meeting minutes, and Steve Brown <br />seconded the motion. The motion carried 11 -0. <br />3. Public Hearing to consider presentations by City of Paris Code Inspectors and owner(s) <br />and /or lien holder(s) of the below properties who have been given notice of a violation <br />of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, <br />entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures ": <br />E. 440 13th Street NW; Lot 4, Block 1, Gorham Addition - Calvin Gibson, 960 S. <br />Main, spoke stating that there is a lot of work to be done to the front porch. The <br />pictures were probably taken after the house was made into a duplex. Mr. Gibson <br />would like time to redo what his tenant is doing. He said that as single man he will <br />not be able to get the work done in 30 days. He can take a room at a time, work at <br />it for about 6 months, and get it ready to live in. Motion was made by Chad Brown <br />to allow 60 days to repair or demolish, seconded by Steve Brown. If the repairs are <br />not made within 60 days, the city will demolish with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />
