AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ISSUING A LICENSE' TO DAVID THOMPSON d/b/a LONE STAR CAB CO. TO, OPERATE A TAXICAB BUSINESS ON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF' THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; FINDING A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE FOR ISSUANCE OF SAID LICENSE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, David Thompson d/b/a Lone Star Cab Co.,, has filed application with the, City of Paris to operate a taxicab business in the city limits of the City of Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, city staff having reviewed the application, insurance certificates and driving record of the applicant hereby recommends that a one, -year license to operate a taxicab business in the city limits of the City of Paris, be issued to David Thompson d/b/a Lone Star Cab Co. effective January 1, 2018, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas hereby finds and determines that the application satisfies the requirements of the City Charter and City Ordinances for issuance of a license to operate a taxicab business, and further finds and determines that the applicant has made the requisite showing of public necessity and convenience for said taxicab business. NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the City Council of the City of Paris, the City Council has found that public necessity and convenience require that a license be issued to David Thompson d/b/a Lone Star Cab Co. to operate a taxicab business on the public streets of the City of Paris, Texas for a one-year term effective January 31, 2018, and ending December 31, 2018. Section 3. That the right, privilege, and grant herein contained shall not be transferred or assigned by Licensee without first obtaining the formal action and written consent of the City Council of the, City of Paris,, and any attempted assignment or transfer of ,said rights and privileges by the Licensee without first obtaining such consent and permission from the City Council of the City of Paris shall operate, ipso facto, as a termination of the rights, privileges, and grant herein contained. Section 4. That the taxicab business operated or maintained under this license shall be used for the purpose of the transportation of passengers, and the personal luggage of such passengers.
