<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-190 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, STATING THE CITY OF PARIS'S CONTINUED SUPPORT <br />OF THE REGIONAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE APPREHENSION <br />PROGRAM AND THE CONTINUING EFFORTS OF THE TRI-COUNTY <br />DRUG TASKFORCE TO TARGET ILLICIT CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE <br />AND ORGANIZED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has actively supported the Regional <br />Controlled Substance Apprehension Program since 1988; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, over the last thirteen years, the goals have not changed and are as follows: <br /> <br />1. To identify, investigate and apprehend violators ofthe Texas and federal controlled <br />substance statutes; <br />2. To aggressively prosecute narcotics law violators under applicable state and federal <br />laws; <br />3. To remove profit gained by drug traffickers by civil asset forfeiture; <br />4. To provide investigative, manpower and prosecutorial assistance to local, state, and <br />federal law enforcement; and, <br />5. To provide drug awareness education to communities within the impact area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program has been successful <br />in accomplishing its goals; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City of <br />Paris continue to suppress drug activity in and around the city of Paris through its support of the <br />Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Council ofthe City of Paris does hereby reaffirm the strong support <br />of the City of Paris for the continued efforts of the Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension <br />Program. <br /> <br />Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br />
