Meeting Minutes of the Main Street Advisory Board <br />107 Kaufman St <br />Paris Texas <br />City Council Chambers <br />Tuesdav, November 14, 2017 <br />Present: Absent: <br />Glee Ernmite John Brazile <br />Shelley McDowell Laurie Redus <br />April Coward <br />Cody Kelly <br />Frances Reed <br />Cleonne Drake — City Council <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager Liaison <br />Becky Semple, Chamber Liaison <br />I ) Call meeting to order- Glee Ernmite at 4:35 pin <br />2) Citizens Forurn- None <br />3) Approval of minutes of last regular meeting Cody Kelly moved to approve the minutes, April Coward seconded, minutes were <br />approved. The minutes of the Special Meeting on 10-26=2017 were also presented for approval. Shelley moved to approve, April <br />seconded, minutes were approved. <br />4) Main Street Managers u d res - <br />a) Cheri reported that the MSAB booth at the Free Fighting Ceremony made $450, plus a $ 100 donation from Nancy Caviness, <br />who sold cotton candy at our booth, for a total of $550. <br />b) Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, We partner with PDA to be a "Neighborhood Charnpion" for <br />this event. We have swag to hand out to participating downtown businesses for giveaways - -logo items such as mats, banners, <br />pens, pins, and reusable bags. Farmer's Market will be open that day as well from 11-3. <br />c) Cheri went over the work plan and committee meetings. She emphasized that the state Main Street program offers design <br />resources to downtown owners, including an architect and design staff members to help property owners with appropriate <br />designs for their locations. She showed renderings of 107, who took advantage of these services when designing their <br />building. We need to make sure property owners are aware of this, as it could help avoid any HRC issues with compliance, <br />d) Cheri went over the Main St. 1.0 Criteria Annual Report she is getting ready to submit to the state. <br />e) Festival of Pumpkins had 1,60 volunteers. Dairy Queen provided Sundae coupons to all volunteers. <br />f) MSAB will present to the City Council in January. Cheri would like for us to start quarterly reports to them. <br />g) Texas Downtown Association presented a Spirit of Downtown Award to Paris for the Fire of 1916 Anniversary year. <br />5) Committee 1. iaison Reports - <br />a) HPC -- Glee reported that Coca-Cola Bottling Co., requested permission to demolish a building on their property that had <br />been a part of the old McCuistion Hospital. They plan to reuse the brick for a marker designating the significance of the <br />property. Permission was granted, pending a COA. <br />b) PDA - Glee stated Small Business Saturday is being promoted by PDA. <br />c) Promotion Committee — John not present. <br />d) Economic Vitality - Cody said they have not met yet, <br />e) Organization .. Laurie said they haven't met yet. <br />f) Chamber of Commerce and V&CC .-- Becky Semple wasn't present, Cheri gave some details about the $1010 Drawing on <br />Dec. 19"' at fpm. There will be one stage this year instead of spread out. Also mentioned Christmas in Paris at the LCC on <br />the Saturday before 'Thanksgiving, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 2. <br />6) Future Agenda Items- We will work with HPC for Preservation Week 2018, primarily in the area of educating property owners <br />what resources are available to assist them. <br />7) Motion to a4journ - by Laurie, with second from April.
