Meeting Minutes of the Main Street Advisory Board 107 Kaufman St Paris Texas City Council Chambers Tuesdav, December 12. 2017 Present : Absent: Glee Emmite April Coward John Brazile Cody Kelly Laurie Redus Frances Reed Shelley McDowell Becky Semple, Chamber Liaison Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager Cleonne Drake .-- City Council Liaison I ) Call meeting to order- Glee mmite at 433 pm 2) Citizens Forum- None 3) Approval of minutes of last meeting John Brazile moved to approve the minutes, Shelley McDowel I seconded, minutes were approved 4) Main Street Managers updates- a) Cheri reported a lot of great events with the PDA parade, Small Business Saturday, and the 11 -25 Farmer's Market were all very successful. Also Festival of Pumpkins with 160-f volunteers, and the Tree Lighting were extremely well -attended. b) We have a new Survey Monkey account. Cheri asked for possible questions for a downtown merchant's survey. Glee asked to add a question about the speed limit downtown is it too high'? Does it bother the merchants'? c) Next up is the Paris Wine Fest d) Cheri invited everyone to watch the Destination Downtown videos, e) We will present to the City Council in January about our scope of work, plans we have,, what we have accomplished, f) Do we want to start a monthly meeting with the downtown merchants, so we can all get to know each other, see how we can help them? g) Prot -notions Committee will meet later today. Jill Drake will have feedback from Mannequin Night, 5) Committee Liaison Reports- a) eport -a) HPC Glee went to downtown McKinney for a 14PC meeting. Very impressed with their downtown area. Suggested having signs made for our empty storefronts with the history of the building to try to pique interest in development. Cover the glass with dropcloth drapes. LO flammons building (Linda Kilgore owns), and space next to Olive Paris (G.A. Hodges owns) are possibilities. There is a Wine Lounge going in on I" SE. They will meet with IJPC to get a Certificate of Appropriateness for a gate they put up before knowing they needed one. b) PDA -- "Breakfiast Bites" meetings with merchants, short videos shown. Moffitt Financial on the southwest comer of the Plaza wants to make improvements to the faqade. Looking for 1IRC grant and a BIG grant from us. c) Promotions - John reports they will meet 12-12-17 d) Economic Vitality - Cody not present c) Organization - Laurie reported they met 11-2-17 to discuss the potential for Market Square. Toured with regular vendors to get ideas. Will meet in January to discuss improvement plan and tirneline. Cheri has requested from the state Main St. an artist's rendering for Market Square and Skate Park. Cheri showed some possibilities for Market Square and the Library Plaza across the street. She will meet with mural artists for potential work there, f) V&CC -- Becky talked about the Drawing. There's a potential mountain bike race for Pat Mayse Lake in the works. The Half de Paris will be on March 3rd, 1( 00 1 signed up so far. We discussed asking about possibly changing the 5K route to go through a more scenic part of town. Tour de Paris is on track. Potential for new events at Lake Crook. 6) Future Agenda Items- Sign thank you cards for volunteers. Survey Monkey, Prepare for Council presentation - stress 25004-+ volunteer hours in 2017. 7) Motion to adjourn - by Laurie, with second from Shelley.
