Item No, 15 TO: City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Carla Easton, PE, City Engineer SUBJECT: CONTRACT CLOSE OUT FOR THE 20�16 TxCDBG DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROJECT DATE: December 28, 2017 BACKGROUND: In 2016, The City was awarded a grant through the Texas Capital Fund Community Development Block Grant Main Street Program for $150,000 to reconstruct sidewalks in downtown. The project included replacement of sidewalks along the south side of Lamar from North Main St to I" Nl--", and also the west side of South Main St from Kaufman to Austin. Birkoff, Hendricks & Carter LI -C prepared the construction drawings and specifications, and Richard Drake Construction (R.DC) was awarded the construction contract on February 27, 2017, in the amount of` $144,100.90. STATUS OF ISSUE: RDC has completed the work under this contract, and the total pay amount to RDC is $144,100.90. Progress payments have been made in accordance with the contract documents, and the only remaining payment is for the retained amount of $14,410.09, which will be released upon final acceptance by City Council. The engineer of record has reviewed all close out documents and field conditions, and recommends -final acceptance of the project. BUDGET: Funds are available in the grant fund and reimbursable through the Texas Capital Fund Community Development Block Grant Main Street Program. RECOMMENDATION: Approve of final payment and acceptance of the 2016 Downtown Sidewalk Improvements contract with Richard Drake Construction.
