MINUTES <br />Monday, June 30, 2003 Meeting <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />City of Paris, Texas <br />Paris Junior College, Applied Technologies Building <br />Room 1206 <br />Item One: The meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, at 4:05 PM <br />Item Two: The roll was called by Paul Denney, Recording Secretary. The following Commission <br />members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett <br />Ann Rogers <br />Paul Denney <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Barbara Wilson <br />Becki Norment <br />The following Commission members were absent: <br />Linda Ryan <br />Jerry Raper <br />The following guest was present: <br />Susie Harper <br />A quorum was present. <br />Item Three: The May 20, 2003 minutes were approved with minor corrections. Barbara Wilson made <br />the motion to approve the minutes as corrected and Sue Lancaster seconded the motion. The motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Item Four: Chairman Arvin Starrett appointed Claudia Hunt and Barbara Wilson to draft a Request for <br />Proposal for a Historical Survey Update. This subcommittee would report back for a special meeting. <br />Paul Denney made a motion to authorize this subcommittee to prepare the Request for Proposal. The <br />motion was seconded by Becki Norment and the motion passed unanimously. <br />Item Five: After discussion, it was decided that the Commission would recommend to the City Council <br />that the City of Paris apply for the Texas Preservation Grant of the Texas Historical Commission and <br />seek letters of support from governmental and business leaders. It was noted that this grant would <br />require a 50% match in funding for a total amount up to $40,000.00. A motion was put forth that this <br />recommendation be presented to the City Council. The motion was made by Ann Rogers and seconded <br />by Becki Norment. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />June 30, 2003 Meeting <br />
