MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />LAMAR COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, <br />COMMUNITY ROOM <br />1125 BONHAM STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9, 2004 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission Meeting was called to order by Vice - <br />Chairman Barbara Wilson at 12:05 P.M. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Barbara Wilson, Vice - Chairman <br />Paul Denney <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Alternates: Brian Wear (arrived at 12:10) <br />Becki Norment (arrived at 12:10) <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Jerry Raper <br />Ann Rodgers <br />C. Also present was Lisa Wright, Historic Preserv#tion Officer; and <br />Lindsey Harper, Main Street Director. <br />2. Appointing a Temporary Secretary. Claudia Hunt requeste� that we postpone <br />this item until more Commission members were present. <br />3. Discussion of and possible action on approving the following Certificates of <br />Appropriateness: <br />A. Holy Cross Episcopal Church (by Suzy Harper) - 32� S. Church Street. <br />Suzy Harper advised the Commission that Holy Cross wanted to build <br />a playground on the north side of the church.' The playground <br />proposed was designed by a professional playground consultant. She <br />told the Commission they would have liked to have done the <br />playground in wood, but they just aren't done like that anymore. <br />Instead, it will be made of vinyl in a gray, putty, cement color with a <br />small amount of brown detail. There will also be blackboard material. <br />They will build a black wrought iron fence on three sides of the <br />
