MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />LAMAR COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br />COMMUNITY ROOM <br />1125 BONHAM STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2004 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission Meeting was called to order by <br />Chairman Arvin Starrett at 12:00 P.M. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Barbara Wilson, Vice - Chairman <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Alternate: Brian Wear <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Jerry Raper <br />Ann Rodgers <br />Paul Denney <br />Alternate: Becki Norment <br />C. Also present were Lisa Wright, Historic Preservation Officer, and <br />Lindsey Harper, Main Street Director. <br />2. Discussion of and possible action on approving the following Certificates of <br />Appropriateness: <br />A. Pike Burkhart, Sr. - 524 S. Church Street - Motion to approve the <br />Certificate of Appropriateness was made by Barbara Wilson, seconded <br />by Sue Lancaster. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Public hearing to receive citizen comments regarding declaring the following <br />properties as a historic landmarks: <br />A. 625 W, Washington Street (Old County Hospital and adjacent <br />buildings /Agape House) - Earl Erickson and John Kelly from the Agape <br />House were present and presented a plan showing the exterior <br />modifications that are proposed to be made to the property. They were <br />concerned whether designation would prevent them from making <br />changes to the property that would make it usable. Chairman Starrett <br />told them the Commission was open to adaptive reuse, especially if the <br />
