Ad <br />MINUTES <br />Thursday, April 3, 2003 Meeting <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />City of Paris, Texas <br />Paris Junior College Applied Technologies <br />Building, Room 1206 <br />Item One: The meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, Chairman, at 6:00 P.M. <br />Item Two: The roll was called by Paul Denney, Recording Secretary. The following <br />Commission members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett <br />Paul Denney <br />Jerry Raper <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Barbara Wilson <br />Becki Norment <br />The following Commission members were absent: <br />Ann Rogers <br />Linda Ryan <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Item Three: Arvin Starrett read aloud a brief overview of the formation of the Historical <br />Preservation Ordinance. He also presented a description of the proposed boundaries of the <br />Downtown Historical Overlay District. Mr. Starrett introduced Mr. Tony Eads with the <br />Texas Downtown Association. Mr. Eads presented.a short verbal presentation <br />enumerating the benefits of historic district designation to the community. Mr: Starrett then read <br />a letter aloud, about the history of the area, written by Mr. James Wright Steely. At this point, a <br />power -point presentation was presented to the group. <br />Item Four: Mr. Starrett presented the proposed regulations for the Downtown Historic District. <br />In general, these are based on the Secretary of the Interior's standards for Historic Preservation. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />April 3, 2003 Meeting <br />
