Motion passed unanimously.
Drew Ruthart reported that the Barber (Hills Winter Blast Bicycle Rally event was held Saturday, January 201h at Pat
Mayse Lake. This event was brought to us by local bicyclers who built and enjoy the mountain bike trails at Pat
Mayse Lake regularly and want people to be aware of this "Gem" that we have available, to bring 'visitors to Paris.
There was a quick turnaround for this event since first talked about and actually held, but everyone that came,
including the coordinator, King Racing Group from Dallas, had a great time and were so impressed that they want
to bring future events to Paris.
There was discussion about hosting another boat race at Lake Crook on May 5, 2018. Drew and I' had meetings and
numerous phone conversations with the people that want to bring this race, however, after looking at all the
details and funding needs it is our recommendation that this isn't an event the VCC should continue to pursue at
this time. After hearing this recommendation, the board also agreed with this decision.
Lisa Walker reported that there have been to this date, 1900 bicycles rented at the bicycle kiosk located at Love
Civic Center. This venture has proved to be a great success, and we are excited that folks are out enjoying the
outdoors as well as our Trail!
Since October 2016 thru September 2017, we have hosted 27 events, conferences, or meetings at Love Civic
Center and around Paris.
Thanks to Dr. Craig Stephens and Bobby Walters, we now have a, driving tour of our beautiful Historic Homes to
add to our attractions that make Paris such a great place to explore, and will be adding several homes in Roxton, in
Lamar County as a separate tour in the near future,
We are continuing to market and promote Paris and Lamar County to attract meetings and events to be held in
Paris. Drew has been working extensively on our Website and' updating our Social Media to attract more viewers
to see all the great assets we have here in Paris and Lamar County.
Motion to adjourn at 4:36 was made by Lisa Walker.
Respectfully submitted,
Becky Semple
