RESOLUTION NO. 2004-194 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING AS SURPLUS THAT PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF FIRST STREET AND KAUFMAN STREET, ALSO KNOWN AS A PORTION OF LOT 5-A, CITY BLOCK 179-A, THE SAME BEING NUMBER 36 AND 40 EAST KAUFMAN STREET, WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING THE APPRAISAL, SURVEY, AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR THE AFORESAID PROPERTY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris has identified that property currently owned by the City and located at the corner of First Street and Kaufman, also known as a portion of Lot 5-A, City Block 179-A, Number 36 and 40 East Kaufman Street, as property no longer required or needed by the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the City desires to designate the aforesaid property as surplus and to solicit competitive bids for the sale of said property in accordance with state law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the real property owned by the City of Paris and located at the corner of First Street and Kaufman, also known as a portion of Lot 5-A, City Block 179-A, Number 36 and 40 East Kaufman Street, shall be and is hereby declared to be of no further use to the City of Paris and is hereby declared to be surplus. Section 3. That all tenants of the aforesaid property shall be instructed to vacate the aforesaid premises as soon possible, in accordance with state law, and the City Attorney shall be and is hereby authorized to undertake any and all appropriate action to accomplish said vacation and eviction. Section 4. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized, and directed to solicit competitive bids for the sale of the aforesaid property, in accordance with state law and the city charter, and to return to the City Council for its consideration the aforesaid bids to award the sale of the aforesaid property to the highest bidder on such terms and conditions as shall be in the best interest of the City. Section 5. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
