FOR STANDING SEAM METAL ROOFING, AS THE <br />PROFILE IS DIFFERENT AND NOT APPROPRIATE <br />INSTALLED AS AWAY OF REMODELLING A <br />HOUSE <br />FROM WATER <br />EXAMPLE OF R -PANEL ROOFING <br />EXAMPLE OF ROLLED SEAM ROOFING <br />EXAMPLE OF U -PANEL ROOFING <br />Metal windows were used in residential <br />applications in the 1930s and are evident <br />on a few houses in the historic districts. <br />The following guidelines are <br />recommended: <br />Replace deteriorated metal with new <br />primed or pre -finished metal of the <br />same or compatible material. <br />Pressed metal shingles are still <br />manufactured and can be replaced in <br />localized areas as needed. <br />• Re -install decorative roof details, <br />such as cresting, when, replacing the <br />primary roofing material. <br />m Avoid installing an inappropriately <br />scaled metal roofing material on, a <br />house that did not have a metal roof <br />originally. Many of the current metal <br />roofs have an industrial appearance <br />and need to be avoided. <br />• Fabricated metal must not replace <br />other materials such as wood <br />columns. <br />• Metal windows must not replace <br />wood windows. <br />• Avoid installing decorative metal iron <br />work over windows that did not <br />include them in the original design. <br />• Avoid installing a pressed metal skirt <br />where one did not previously exist. <br />Design Standards for the City of Paris, Texasl 25 <br />
