CORBEL <br />CORBELLED, CHIMNEY CAP <br />CORINTHIAN COLUMNS <br />CORNICE <br />CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOUSE <br />rejte_,� <br />the National Register of Historic Places Criteria <br />for Evaluation. <br />Coping — A protective cap, top, or cover of a <br />wall,, parapet, pilaster, or chimney. May be flat, <br />but commonly sloping, double beveled, or curved <br />to shed water so as to protect masonry below <br />from penetration of water above. <br />Corbel — in masonry, a projection, or one of a <br />series of projections, each, stepped progiressively <br />farther forward with height anchored in a wall, <br />story, column, or, chimney. <br />Corbelled chimney cap — a brick or stone, <br />capping at the top of a chimney that has a series <br />of projections, each stepping out farther than the <br />one below it. <br />Corinthiian order — the most ornate of the <br />classical orders, characterized by a bell-shaped <br />capital with scrolls and acanthus leaves. <br />Corner block — a square block used to trim <br />casing at the upper corners of door or window <br />surrounds; typically decorated with a milled bull's <br />eye known as a rosette., <br />Corner board — a trim board used at an exterior <br />corner of a wood -frame structure. <br />Cornerstone— a stone which is located near the <br />base of a corner in a building and displays <br />information recording the dedicatory ceremonies; <br />a foundation stone. <br />Cornice — a molded projection; or masonry which <br />crowns or finishes the top of a buildings wall. <br />Craftsman — an architectural style, inspired by <br />the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th <br />century, reflecting attention to cletaill. The low- <br />pitched roof forms have wide exposed overhangs <br />and roof rafters.
