They <br />can be rewired and restored. <br />• An artificially "aged" fixture mimicking <br />a carriage lamp, or gaslight is <br />prohibited. <br />• A concealed fixture or one of a very <br />simple design is an acceptable <br />option. <br />• Place security lighting as <br />unobtrusively as possible. <br />• The use of approved neon (lighting on <br />buildings predating early twentieth <br />century is encouraged., <br />• Post -mounted lligihting fixtures must <br />meet the approval of the Historic <br />Preservation Commission. <br />In general, illumination levels should not <br />exceed 5 foot -candies in exterior lighting <br />fixtures. However, higher illumination <br />levels can be utilized from concealed <br />indirect lighting, such as from, spot or <br />flood lighting sources., <br />Inappropriate lighting colors and sources <br />include sodium vapor, blue toned <br />fluorescent, halogen, or xenon. <br />Design Standards for the City of Paris, Texas 31 <br />
