J97-o04 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, children are our most precious resource, and they deserve the protection and <br />support in growing into responsible and productive adults; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1989, paramedic Stewart Dodson, along with his colleagues at the City <br />of Paris Emergency Medical Services, Gary Crawford, Paul Stansell, Mike Williams, and Kent <br />Klinkerman, organized the "Think Child Safety" program to aid in the reduction of injuries and <br />deaths among children by teaching good safety practices; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on May 11, 1993, the City of Paris was issued a certificate of registration <br />from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the "Think Child Safety" service mark; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the SOS Fire & Rescue Paramedic Squadron, Esquadron SOS, Mexico City, <br />Mexico, a one hundred percent (100%) volunteer, private, non-profit organization that provides <br />emergency medical services and community assistance in Mexico City and several states <br />throughout Mexico, has requested permission to initiate and conduct in Mexico a similar program <br />to the "Think Child Safety" program and to translate "Think Child Safety" materials into Spanish; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the bests interests of all concerned that such request be <br />granted; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS AND THE <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF LAMAR, that the request of the SOS <br />Fire & Rescue Paramedic Squadron, Esquadron SOS, Mexico City, Mexico, to initiate and <br />conduct in Mexico a similar program to the "Think Child Safety" program and to translate "Think <br />Child Safety" materials into Spanish be, and the same is hereby, granted. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 11th day of August, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />E'~ ~..,4 <br /> <br />--...... <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />
