Item No. 12 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: John Godwin, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: 2018-19 BUDGET <br />DATE: July 11, 2018 <br />Highlights of the 2017-18 recommended General Fund budget include: <br />GENERAL FUND: <br />• No change in the existing tax rate of to $55.195 per $100 of valuation. <br />• Quicker top -out for sworn police staff, effective 01/01/19 ($38,000). <br />• Increase in firefighter pension fund contribution from 12% to 14%. <br />• Cancer screening program for firefighters, and protective firefighter equipment. <br />• Programmed increase in debt on fire engines. <br />• Sidewalk CDBG grant match ($75,000). <br />• Increased costs for third -party plan reviews and inspections (+$36,000). <br />• Expanded downtown grants, funded by vacant building registry. <br />• Park grant match ($100,000). <br />• One new FTE in EMS to manage increased calls for ambulance transports. <br />• One new ambulance and associated equipment ($179,000). <br />• The remainder of construction costs ($190,000) for a replacement EMS station in northwest <br />Paris. <br />
