<br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-052 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Automobile Theft Prevention <br />Authority provides funding for automobile theft prevention grants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the information furnished for the submission of the Automobile <br />Theft Prevention Program Grant was not made available to the City of Paris in time <br />for the May 13, 1996, Council Meeting which directed that applications be submitted <br />on or before June 4, 1996, and this being the first regularly scheduled Council <br />Meeting since the making available of such information, it is appropriate that <br />authorization be granted for the making of such application; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing <br />a grant application for Automobile Theft Prevention Program Grant entitled, "Paris <br />Law Enforcement Detection and Apprehension" project, for City of Paris <br />enhancement by adding an officer out of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department to assist <br />in this program, in the amount of $42,547.00, with no matching funds; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS: <br /> <br />1. That an application be made to the Office of the Governor, <br />Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for a grant entitled, "Paris Law <br />Enforcement Detection and Apprehension" project, for City of Paris enhancement <br />by adding an officer out of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department to assist in this <br />program in the amount of $42,547.00, with no matching funds. <br /> <br />2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and <br />he is hereby appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized <br />and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant in the <br />form attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br /> <br />3. That Karl Louis, be, and he is hereby appointed as Project Director <br />and is hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Paris all <br />reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary for the completion <br />of said project. <br /> <br />4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to <br />receive and distribute funds for purposes of adding a third office in Mt. Pleasant to <br />assist in the City of Paris' enhancement of the Automobile Theft Prevention <br />Program. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED lh;, lOili day of ~_ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Eric S.
