<br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-116 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Lottery Commission has conducted the Texas Lottery since its <br />implementation in 1993; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Senator Tom Haywood of the 30th Senatorial District will present a senate <br />bill at the 75th Legislative Session, beginning in 1997, which would require the Texas Lottery <br />Commission to return five cents of every dollar made on the sale of lottery tickets to the city <br />in which the sale was transacted or to the county in which the sale was transacted if such sale <br />was in an unincorporated area of said county; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, lottery ticket sales in Paris and Lamar County during the calendar year <br />1995 totalled $10,611,273.00, and this proposed bill would have returned to the cities and <br />county of Lamar County their proportionate share of $530,564.00; therefore, it is appropriate <br />that the City Council endorse said proposed senate bill; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the <br />senate bill to be presented by Senator Tom Haywood at the 75th Legislative Session, beginning <br />in 1997, which would, if passed, require that the Texas Lottery Commission return five cents <br />of every dollar made on the sale of lottery tickets to the city in which the sale was transacted <br />or to the county in which the sale was transacted if such sale was in an unincorporated area of <br />said county be, and the same is hereby, endorsed; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham, be, and she <br />is hereby, directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to "The Honorable Tom Haywood, <br />Texas Senate, P.
